Suzuki Lecture Hall

In October 2010, Professor Emeritus Akira Suzuki (formerly of the Faculty of Engineering) was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of organoboron compounds, which led to revolutionary advances in the field of synthetic organic chemistry. In March 2014, the Frontier Applied Sciences Research Building including Suzuki Lecture Hall, a research and education center for further development of materials science that integrates Japan's advanced applied chemistry with applied physics and environmental engineering, was established in the university's engineering complex to carry on this achievement and to foster future generations.
